Castles to Crypto: Fintech In Lithuania.

Program Details 

Fintech in Lithuania is a 10-day study abroad program based in Vilnius, Lithuania, with cultural visits to Trakai and the countryside. Students will explore how Lithuania transformed from a post-Soviet state to a leading hub for digital innovation, financial technologies, and start-up culture. The program combines professional site visits to fintech firms, consulting companies, and research institutions with cultural experiences at historic landmarks such as Gediminas’ Tower, Trakai Castle, and the KGB Museum. Students will earn 3 elective credits in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or MBA while gaining hands-on international experience.

Selection Criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid passport required
  • Must meet prerequisites for selected courses
  • Willing to abide by health and admission requirements in the host country and partnering agencies/organizations
  • Group size: minimum 6 students, maximum 15 students

Cost

Cost: $3,100 (Including Airfare)

Deposit: $500 Deposit is due 72 hours after registration. If not paid in that timeframe, you may be dropped from your trip.

Trip must be paid in full before departure.

Payments can now be made online! Visit this website for instructions on how to pay your deposit and future payments online. Charges should show on your account within 24-48 hours after registration. If you want to pay with cash or check, please pay at the Hurst Center for Lifelong Learning.

Includes: airfare, insurance, tuition, room and board, local transportation abroad, excursions, and some meals.

Not included: passport, visa fees, incidentals, excess baggage costs, any unscheduled travel, and some meals.

This program supports Weber State’s sustainability goals and contributes to carbon-neutral travel initiatives.

  • Feb 6: Introduction, Course Overview, Lithuania & History
  • Feb 13: Economy of Lithuania & EU, Quiz
  • Feb 20: Financial Innovation, Quiz
  • Feb 27: Depart SLC for Vilnius
  • Feb 28: Arrive in Vilnius, hotel check-in, evening rest
  • Mar 1: Explore Vilnius Old Town – Gediminas’ Tower, Cathedral & Bell Tower, Guided Tour of Old Town
  • Mar 2: Guests on an economics or finance lecture in a local university, visit the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights
  • Mar 3: Visit one of the leading fintech firms (Bankera, Revolut, Coingate), meet economics experts for a presentation in a TV Tower (over 550 ft high)
  • Mar 4: Visit Trakai Castle and taste local food, guided night tour of a recently closed prison 
  • Mar 5: Visit one of the leading fintech firms (Bankera, Revolut, Coingate), Lithuania flavors or Soviet Vilnius guided tour.
  • Mar 6: Visit Ernst & Young to hear from top businesses and legal experts on business challenges and opportunities in Lithuania, authentic sauna experience
  • Mar 7: Depart Vilnius – Arrive SLC
  • Mar 14: Final Paper Due
  • Mar 19: Presentation to Faculty

Students who participate in this study abroad program will be able to register for up to three (3) semester credits through Weber State University in:

Trip Cancellations

If Weber State cancels a trip for any reason, all participants will be refunded 100% of funds paid to the school. If a participant withdraws from the program for any reason, they are subject to the refund policy found on the first page of the application. Deposits are always non-refundable, unless the program is canceled by Weber State. No refunds will be issued 30 days prior to program start date.
