Architecture in Los Angeles

Program Details

Architecture in Los Angeles, offers students the opportunity to observe various architectural styles firsthand, develop architectural sketching skills, and strengthen their architectural vocabulary. Participants will engage in architectural tours and discussions, led by instructors and guest architects, fostering professional conversations and allowing students to formulate opinions on different styles. The destination, Los Angeles, provides an excellent experience due to the wide variety of architectural styles present in a relatively small geographical area. The program offers ARCH 4920, as an upper division elective, for 3 credit hours. The course shall include pre trip student research and group meetings, and post-trip student work and presentations.

Selection Criteria:

Participants must:

  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in a program within the Construction and Building Sciences department.
  • The maximum number of participants for this program is 16.

Cost

Cost: $1,350 

Deposit: $200  Deposit is due 72 hours after registration. If not paid in that timeframe, you may be dropped from your trip.

Trip must be paid in full before the course starts.

Payments can now be made online! Visit this website for instructions on how to pay your deposit and future payments online. Charges should show on your account within 24-48 hours after registration. If you want to pay with cash or check, please pay at the Hurst Center for Lifelong Learning.

Includes: insurance, tuition, lodging, domestic transportation, entrance fees for planned excursions and theatre tickets.

NOT included: airfare, incidentals, excess baggage costs, any unscheduled travel, and all meals.

March 4th: Participate in architectural tours, discussions and Practice architectural sketching skills.

March 5th: Free day to explore architecture of own choosing.

March 6th: Participate in architectural tours, discussions and Practice architectural sketching skills.

Academic Courses

Students who participate in this study abroad program will be able to register for up to three (3) semester credits through Weber State University.

Trip Cancellations

If Weber State cancels a trip for any reason, all participants will be refunded 100% of funds paid to the school. If a participant withdraws from the program for any reason, they are subject to the refund policy found on the first page of the application.  Deposits are always non-refundable, unless the program is canceled by Weber State.  No refunds will be issued 30 days prior to program start date.
