About the Student Success Center

Weber State University's Department of Student Success framework is designed to empower students by strategically aligning the university's Amplified Strategic Plan 2.0 and Student Access & Success Division Learning Outcomes with four pillars of student success: Sense of Belonging, Academic Success, Well-Being, and Thriving. Our aim is to ensure that all students, regardless of background or circumstance, have the opportunity to succeed. Together, these pillars create a holistic approach to student success, equipping students to not only overcome challenges but also flourish throughout their academic journey and beyond.

OUR PILLARS

Sense of Belonging

"Sense of Belonging" is a vital pillar of the Student Success Center, emphasizing the importance of students feeling connected and supported within their academic community. A strong sense of belonging is closely linked to higher student retention and success, as it fosters engagement, motivation, and a positive college experience. Through this pillar, students learn to build communities, creating lasting relationships with peers and faculty, while expanding horizons, gaining new perspectives and opportunities for growth. These outcomes help students thrive both academically and personally, contributing to their overall success in higher education.

Well-Being

Well-being is a key pillar of the Student Success Center, promoting the 8 Dimensions of Wellness—emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual. In partnership with WSU’s Student Health & Wellness program and other campus areas, we connect students to resources that support their whole self—helping them stay healthy, balanced, and ready to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Thriving

"Thriving" embodies the holistic growth of students as future professionals. Thriving encompasses the cultivation of essential skills such as effective communication, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, proficiency in technology, and professionalism. Together, these outcomes contribute to the overall success and thriving of students within the Student Success Center framework ensuring students excel both in college and their future careers.

HEAR FROM OUR STUDENTS

I came here to get help with a housing situation I was in. The Student Success Center pulled all their resources so that I would have a place to live. They also helped me find a campus job. If it wasn't for them, I don't think I would have been able to navigate my way through my freshman year of college. The physical space in the SSC has really helped me for studying when I need a place to focus.

The staff members in the SSC have been very helpful and supportive of me, not only in my academic life but also navigating and growing personally! Events hosted by the center have been super beneficial to me!
