Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke Family Pre-Medical Programs
Choosing a career in the medical field is an important decision. Weber State students feel confident in this decision knowing their desire is well supported through the Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke Family Pre-Medical Program and student resources. The journey starts by understanding that there is not a “pre-medical major;” rather, you select a major in any discipline and include the courses that schools providing professional training in your area of interest require. Regular communication with pre-medical advisors is encouraged as you plan and carry out your pre-medical preparation.
Explore Medical Careers
Medical professions include M.D., D.O., Chiropractic, Optometry & Podiatry. Physicians use their expertise to help others and increase their knowledge to improve the lives of others. Attend a Pre-Med info session for more details.
Pharmacists dispense prescription medications, provide advise about how to take them and educate patience on reactions that may occur. They also offer expert advice on the safe use of prescriptions to other healthcare professionals.
Pre Physician Assistant
Physician assistants treat patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. Doing much the same work as a physician, PAs obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, diagnose illnesses, develop treatment strategies, and assist with various medical procedures.
Pre Physical & Occupational Therapy
Physical & Occupational therapists are invaluable in the rehabilitation and treatment of patients with chronic conditions or debilitating injuries. These healthcare providers help patients manage pain, regain or develop necessary mobility, and/or re-develop skills that enable them to resume every day activity.
Pre Veterinary Medicine
Veterinarians diagnose, treat, and research animal health problems. They prescribe medication and perform surgical procedures across a variety of animal species. They also advise pet owners about animal feeding, behavior and breeding and, through the control of disease, work to improve public health.
If your desired medical career field is not listed above please reach out to the advising office for assistance.
