Anchor Institutions
Weber State University and OgdenCAN are part of a growing national movement focused on Anchor Mission work. Across the country, universities, hospitals, and other major institutions are recognizing their deep responsibility to the communities where they are rooted. These “anchor institutions” hold significant economic and social influence through hiring, purchasing, investment, and community partnerships. When they choose to leverage these resources intentionally, and in alignment with one another, they can help transform the places they call home.
As a member of the Anchor Learning Network and the Anchor Institution Task Force, OgdenCAN brings this proven community development approach to Ogden. Locally, our work aligns with the Weber State University Strategic Plan: AMPLIFIED (2021–2026), which prioritizes the Community Anchor Mission: intentionally using intellectual, financial, and human resources to build a sustainable economic, social, cultural, and environmental system that provides opportunities for all.
