Employment Opportunities

Health promotion graduates provide expertise in positive behavior change and healthy lifestyles and promote health and wellness programs in community, corporate, clinical, non-profit and educational settings.

Specific job activities include conducting health screenings and assessments, planning and evaluating health programs, wellness coaching, and working in groups on various health-related topics such as stress management, sleep enhancement, nutrition, weight control, and smoking cessation.

Grade Requirements

A grade of “C” or better in all major coursework, in addition to a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.

Credit Hour Requirements

A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation; 53-55 of these are required within the major. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses number 3000 and above); a minimum of 37 of these is required within the major.

Online Distance Learning

The health promotion program may be completed through distance learning, which consists of online or independent study courses, although not every course is offered through a distance learning format every semester. Through careful schedule planning, students can complete their program of study without taking any face-to-face courses.
