Scholarships

Esports scholarships can be awarded to our varsity players for the following titles:

  • League of Legends
  • Rocket League
  • Valorant
  • HearthstoneSuper Smash Bros Ultimate.
  • They may also be awarded to students who contribute to the growth of Weber Esports. Such activities include broadcast, team management, or coaching.

Don't See Your Game/Title?

If you don't see your title it doesn't mean there isn't a team for it. It just means it is currently not being offered a scholarship and is otherwise known as a club team. The list of scholarship titles is subject to change so you are heavily encouraged to still participate in the club teams.

Scholarship Requirements

All students are required to maintain all of the following standards to retain an Esports scholarship at Weber State University:

  • You must follow all of Weber State University scholarship guidelines, this includes maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA.

How To Apply

  • To Apply you must be a full-time Weber Student.

  • You must perform a tryout for your game title(s)/role(s). Tryouts for specific game titles are held at the start of each semester.

  • You need to have at least a 2.0 GPA and be eligible to receive financial aid.

  • If awarded a scholarship via tryouts it may take up to the following semester to receive that financial aid.

How To Try Out For A Specific Game

  • Step One: To try out to be on any Weber State Esports team you must start by joining our Discord.

  • Step Two: Find the channel for the game you are interested in trying out on the left-hand side. Select either the public channel for your game title or the “tryouts” channel if available.

  • Step Three: Post some information about yourself and that you are interested in trying out for a team. For example, "Hey I'm (insert in game name) I am interested in playing for (game title) team. Here are links to my stats, and competitive experience (insert stats/experience)."

  • Step Four: Wait for a captain/coordinator to reach out with tryout dates/times.

Sometimes there is room for immediate tryouts otherwise you will usually see opportunities at the start of semesters to try out.
