Dance Activity Tuition Waivers (DATW)

Weber State University's Dance Area offers Dance Activity Tuition Waivers to eligible Utah-resident students, depending on available funding. A tuition waiver is applied directly to a student's account and reduces the amount of eligible tuition owed. It is not a cash scholarship and cannot be refunded or used for fees, books, housing, transportation, or other expenses. Award amounts vary each year and from student to student and may be affected by other scholarships, waivers, or financial aid.

• Eligibility and Selection

  Tuition waivers are available only to eligible Utah residents paying in-state tuition. Awards may be full, half, or another designated amount. Incoming students may be considered through an audition process. Continuing students must reapply each year. Awards are based on factors such as academic progress, Dance course enrollment, participation in THE FIELD, service to the Dance Area, previous completion of waiver responsibilities, and available funding.

• Student Responsibilities

  Recipients are expected to:

  • Enroll in appropriate Dance courses and DANC 4910.
  • Audition for THE FIELD | Fall Into Dance and THE FIELD | Spring Into Dance.
  • Complete assigned rehearsals, performances, production duties, and service hours.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Attend required Dance Area meetings and activities.
  • Meet with a Dance Area advisor at least once each semester.
  • Represent the Dance Area professionally and respectfully.

• Annual Agreement and Review

  Recipients must sign a participation agreement outlining their responsibilities. Awards are reviewed each semester and may be reduced or discontinued if requirements are not completed.
  Receiving a waiver does not guarantee renewal. Awards depend on continued eligibility, participation, completion of responsibilities, and available funding. Applying or auditioning does not guarantee an award.
