Everyday, we experience the amazing aspects of living plants, but oftentimes we don't think much about dead, preserved plants. During this evening, come and (virtually) experience the Mary Carver Hall Herbarium at WSU. We'll talk about the herbarium and its collection of nearly 30,000 plant specimens, and we'll have the opportunity together to think about various ways that we can bring the excitement of dead plants alongside the live ones.

This workshop presents lessons that support implementation of the new Utah SEEd standards in your science classroom. The focus will be on how core ideas in life science develop overtime from kindergarten to high school through two lessons on evolution and changes in species over time. The first is the Pika Problem: Will the Pika Survive (grade 3/7) followed by Venezuelan Guppies: Variety and Evolution (Grade 7/HS). The core idea (LS4.C) is pulled through Strands 3.2 (Standard 3.2.5), 7.5 (Standard 7.5.1), and BIO.4 (Standard 4.2).
