Are you involved on campus?

Aubree Rowley, Pre-Physicians Assistant Club Officer
It's 2016. I’m a brand-new freshman here at Weber State, showing up to my first day on campus, parking in the wrong lot (thinking that it was a “W” lot), trying to find the right building, and even worse, rushing to find the right room number and be on time. This is how I felt for my first couple of semesters at Weber—constantly rushed and in a static state, almost like I wasn’t growing or accomplishing anything during my time in college.
In all seriousness, if you asked me then, I would have told you that I had no place at Weber and that all I needed was to get in and out as fast as possible. I came to the conclusion that this is just the way it is.
Finally, I chose my major and the career path I was going to take. Then I made the decision that I needed to make more out of my college experience. I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to be a part of my community. I wanted to make friends. And I especially wanted to have a support system for others who were facing the same obstacles as me.
I started going to Pre-Physician Assistant club meetings and realized that there was so much more to learn than I ever knew. What was even better was when I started to attend more meetings, I began feeling others rooting for and believing in me, even when I had doubts about myself—something that I would not have had without the Pre-PA club.
When I first started, I was definitely wary of joining a club, but I can confidently say that joining one gave me a sense of purpose and belonging here at Weber. It increased my courage to be able to go out and do other things that I never thought I could accomplish. If you are feeling these same things, don’t wait – get out and join a club!
Can't wait to see you at the Block Party!
