  • Students in the Family Studies program have diverse personal and professional goals. Our program provides an excellent foundation for your personal and professional plans.
  • The Family Studies program provides an in-depth foundation for individuals who want to apply their academic training to their personal lives and families. Some students wish to apply their knowledge and skills primarily as a spouse, parent and family member.
  • The program has an applied focus on many important topics including parenting, marriage and romantic relationships, family relations, family resource management, diverse families, sexuality, family processes, families in stress and crisis, families in later life, and many other topics.
  • The curriculum in the Family Studies program at Weber State University is based on family systems theory, human development theories, and interpersonal relationship/communication theories. All of these areas provide a strong foundation for application to family and individual experiences.
  • The Family Studies program provides an opportunity for certification as a Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations. 
  • Students in the Family Studies program have authentic learning experiences in the community working with young people and families. Through practicum and other learning experiences, students have real-life experiences in the community.
