Department of Child and Family Studies

The mission of the Department of Child and Family Studies is to prepare Early Childhood and Family Life Educators to positively transform our community and society. Our vision is that we aspire to enrich the lives of all children and families in our community and society.

Early Childhood Education

Receive early childhood teacher training in a nationally accredited program. We offer on-campus and 100% online A.A.S. degree in Early Childhood, a B.S. degree in Early Childhood, a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education (Utah Teaching License K-3), along with a minor in Child Development.

Family Studies

Our Family Studies program has led the way for developing national standards for family life educators. With a B.S. degree in Family Studies or an MEd degree in Family Life Education, you will be eligible to apply for national certification as a provisional Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE). You may also seek a minor in Family Studies.

Laboratory Early Learning Programs

The Melba S. Lehner Children's School and the WSU Charter Academy provide quality care and education for young children infancy through kindergarten age. These two program serve as an on-campus field experience site and research lab for WSU students and faculty.
