This hybrid certificate, offered as a mix of in-person and online formats, introduces students to essential cybersecurity topics such as personal digital security, ethical behaviors using cyber tools, how computers work and communicate, and more. Once you’ve completed the certificate, you could qualify for jobs such as cybersecurity engineer, information security officer, IT specialist, principal systems engineer, security analyst, and more.

This course curriculum is built for all skill levels. No prerequisites are required.

Learn bilingually

Courses are taught in Spanish and English, with content gradually transitioning from a majority being taught in Spanish to more English. Tutors are available for students in need of ESL support.

You may apply for this certificate provided you have applied for admission to Weber State University and/or have declared you are a degree-seeking student.

Course Details

You must complete these courses with a grade of C or better to earn this certificate.

  • CS 1030: Foundations of Computing (4 credits)

    Covers topics like personal digital security, ethical behaviors in education and business, how computers work and communicate with one another, how to create a website, and more.

  • CS 1400: Programming (4 credits)

    Gain a basic understanding of how to create software for all computing environments. Learn computer programming topics like logical problem solving, basic input/output, utilizing language libraries, and more.
