Ameritas Dental Insurance
Effective July 1, 2026, Weber State University will be transitioning employee dental and vision insurance administration to Ameritas. The Ameritas Classic Plus network offers a broad selection of providers, and we anticipate a very small increase in the employee-paid portion of the dental premium. However, the plan will cover 100% of preventive care.
Detailed information regarding rates will be announced just prior to open enrollment.
If you currently have EMI Dental, you will be automatically enrolled in the Ameritas Dental Classic Plus plan, effective July 1. If you wish to change your coverage, you must do so during open enrollment, April 13 - May 8.
New Employee Information
New employees with start dates from April 13 to June 30 will be temporarily covered by our original provider, EMI Dental, and then switch to Ameritas effective July 1.
April 13 - June 30: When you enroll in benefits via the New Hire Enrollment app in your eWeber portal, you will only see Ameritas as an option. Please know that your selection within the Ameritas plan will be matched as closely as possible to our current EMI plan. The main difference will be with preventative care: EMI will cover 80%, and Amertias will cover 100%. After July 1, Ameritas will be your new dental provider. You will not need to take any action to process this change.
July 1 and beyond: Ameritas will be the only dental plan option in the New Hire Enrollment app, where you will enroll in all benefits as a new employee.
Ameritas Dental Insurance
As of July 1, 2026, Weber State University has contracted with Ameritus to administer dental insurance.
Features of dental coverage include:

100% coverage of preventive exams
80% coverage of basic dental procedures -
50% coverage of prosthetics to a
maximum of $2,000 per person per year. -
50% coverage of orthodontic
charges to a maximum of
$1,500 per person per lifetime.
Ameritas Dental Insurance Rates
These rates are only for faculty/staff who are .75 FTE or greater. If you are less than .75 FTE, contact HR for the rates.
