The Emerging Leaders Program at Weber State University is a year-long program. This student led organization helps freshmen and sophomores develop and learn their leadership skills. Mentors are provided to help you navigate Weber State, the community, and personal relationships.

Sessions revolve around: Small & Large Group Discussions, Learning about Weber's resources, Team-Building Activities, Self-improvement, and StrengthsQuest Development.

What will I learn in this program?

Emerging Leaders is a self-discovery program designed to help you better know yourself and how you effectively lead others. Participants learn not only what makes them a success, but also what motivates them. There are opportunities to meet other students and make lasting friendships.

How much is the Scholarship?

Amounts are determined each year based on the number of applicants and available awards. Generally between $1,000- $1,500 per academic year.

How do I become an Emerging Leader?

Complete the Emerging Leaders Mentee Application linked below. We select applicants based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular involvement, community involvement, and leadership experience. This scholarship application is open from February 1st 2024 - May 31st 2024.

What are the requirements of the Emerging Leaders Scholarship?

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be a freshman or a sophomore in the upcoming academic year
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Exhibit past involvement with the school and/or community activities, with particular experience in leadership roles
  • Be a United States resident
  • Be accepted to Weber State University and committed to both the Fall and Spring Semesters of this upcoming academic year
  • Successfully participate in the Emerging Leaders program as established by the Department of Student Involvement & Leadership

What do I do after I accept the scholarship?

Once you have received an email from the Director of the program and have accepted the scholarship the organization will administer the scholarship waivers to your eWeber portal. The sooner you can accept your award offer the better.

In order to maintain the scholarship throughout the year, recipients will be expected to successfully complete the Emerging Leaders Program. Expecations includes:

  • Mandatory bi-weekly meetings on Thursdays from 2:30-4:00pm
  • Mandatory attendance at Lead Weber Leadership Conference
  • Only two (2) absences per semester
  • In addition, Mentors provide fun "off week" meetings (not mandatory) that include activities like going to a corn maze, bracelet making, ice skating, pickleball, bowling, games, Friendsgiving, etc.
