The Olene S. Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service opens the door for students preparing for careers in public service. Since 2012, the nonpartisan institute named for Utah’s first female governor has placed more than 150 students in internships with local, state, and national leaders, as well as governments, campaigns, and public service organizations. The Walker Institute also engages the community at large through its Citizens Academy, Political Leadership Institute Series, and Haven J. Barlow Leadership Forum, all of which offer education and discussion on current issues and ideas for political reform.
