Mark your calendars: Weber State's 2025 homecoming season is here
OGDEN, Utah — Students, alumni, and community members are gearing up for this year’s Homecoming Week starting today through Oct. 11.
Homecoming Week is a time for the WSU community to come together and show their Wildcat pride through events like Oktoberfest, Purple Paw Parade, Homecoming Pep Rally, Illuminight, and the homecoming football game.
“I want students to feel like they are loved and wanted here at Weber State,” said Mia Foster, student body president. “There's a place for everyone and we're here to help you make this school the Weber you want.”
WSU will host the Illuminight & Drone Show Oct. 6 from 6–8 p.m. at Stewart Stadium. Formerly known as “Light the W,” this is a Weber State tradition that has been around since 1937. It started with 100 cans of kerosene, burlap sacks, and the hope of promoting school spirit throughout the WSU community. The new permanent Flaming W is the first mountainside letter built with solar panels which reflects the university's commitment to sustainability. This year marks the first Homecoming Week where the newly renovated W will be lit purple. This free event welcomes everyone to enjoy food trucks, games, and a drone show featuring a countdown to the W’s transformation to purple for the week.
Tara Peris, director of Student Involvement and Leadership, praised Homecoming Week as a time for students to celebrate all things Weber State.
“This week allows likeminded students to celebrate together while also potentially experiencing an increase in their school spirit as they see a place for them here at Weber State,” Peris said.
The week will conclude with a football game against Sacramento State Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. at Stewart Stadium. Pending weather conditions, there will be a parachute drop and drone show during halftime. Students can receive two free tickets available on the Weber State Ticket Office website.
“Homecoming is a way for me to de-stress from everything that’s going on,” said WSU student Alexa Cornejo. “I’m excited to connect with new people and hopefully make new friendships here on campus.”
