The Industry-based Post-Bachelor’s Certificate in Systems Engineering and Sustainable Engineering is a launching point for gainful employment in the aerospace/manufacturing workplace, professional certification within the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and continuing education toward a Master of Science in Systems Engineering.
In addition, we also offer a strategic education course, SE 6010: Foundations of Systems Engineering, that can be taken independently or as part of Weber’s graduate certificate or master’s degree. The graduate certificate fulfills 12 credits toward an MSSE degree.

Application Requirements and Deadlines:
Successful applicants will have:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- An interest in entering the systems engineering community or advancing a career in industries such as defense, Aerospace, Energy, or Healthcare
- Submission of a complete application by the desired semester deadline:
- If you are applying for the spring semester, the deadline is October 1.
- If you are applying for the fall semester, the deadline is May 1.
Admission Requirements:

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Systems Architect Certificate
Advance your systems engineering expertise with Weber State University's 100% online, 10-credit MBSE Systems Architect Post Baccalaureate Certificate. Designed for professionals seeking to lead in digital engineering and complex system design, this certificate can be completed in just two consecutive semesters. Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard platforms and standard plugins. You will apply cutting-edge methodologies in architecture frameworks and governance, SysML modeling, and simulation. Additionally, 9 credit hours can be applied toward the MSSE degree.

The WSU Systems Program currently utilizes SysML v1.7, which continues to serve as the foundation for student modeling and coursework. In July 2025, the Object Management Group formally approved SysML v2.0, marking a significant update in modeling language structure and capability. The program will begin a structured adoption process in alignment with industry usage and standards to ensure students are prepared for the evolving digital engineering and MBSE ecosystem.

MBSE Tools Learned and Utilized
Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) platforms used across many domains. The certificate emphasizes tool-enabled and digital engineering practices to support interdisciplinary collaboration, traceability, and communication.
You will work with:
- Dassault Systèmes Magic System of Systems Architecture, the industry standard SysML modeling environment
- Toolkits and Plugins for extending tool capabilities and automating repetitive modeling tasks
- Simulation and analysis extensions for verifying behavior, structure, and system constraints
- Architecture frameworks and governance that support compliance with industry standards
MBSE Certificate Admissions and Requirements:

Application Requirements and Deadlines:
Successful applicants will have:
- A background in systems engineering, engineering management, or a related technical field
- Professional experience in complex system design, development, or integration
- An interest in advancing their careers through structured, model-based methods
- Completion of INCOSE Sep Certification or have SE 6010 or equivalent:
- If you are INCOSE SEP Certified or have completed SE 6010 or equivalent, apply for the spring semester. The deadline is October 1.
- If you are not INCOSE SEP Certified SE 6010 (INCOSE SEP Equivalent Course), the application deadline is July 15 or March 1 to start SE 6010 the following fall.
Admission Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree completion before enrollment
- 3.0 GPA
- Preferred 3 years of SE experience
- Leveling Requirement: INCOSE SEP certified or completed SE 6010 or equivalent. Fall applicants may complete SE 6010 and start certificate courses in the spring.
