Weber State’s bachelor’s degrees in music strengthen your creativity, critical thinking skills, and collaboration abilities through expert musical instruction and a wide variety of performance opportunities.

Bachelor of Arts in Music (BA)

The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a liberal arts degree focused on music as an academic discipline. This degree is the best option for students interested in musicology, composition, recording and technology; or those pursuing a double major in music and another field.

This program was designed with adventurous student musicians in mind. The course requirements allow for a variety of electives so students can explore and research a broad range of music forms.

Music Education Teaching (BME)

If you’re passionate about teaching the next generation about music, then a degree in music education teaching could be the right fit for you.

This degree provides the education and experience necessary to teach music in grades K-12. The program is hands-on and based on the latest teaching research. You will master applied music theory and pedagogy and graduate with the certification needed to teach in the state of Utah. Students in this program enjoy the one-on-one instruction they get from their professors and ample opportunities to work with youth.

Music Performance and Pedagogy

Musicians wanting to perform on a professional level, teach the next generation of musicians or earn a doctorate degree will hone their skills and techniques in class, rehearsal, and performance. Students work one-on-one with internationally recognized faculty to focus their creativity and master their craft. Our graduates go on to perform in chambers and ensembles, as well as have successful solo careers.

As a Bachelor of Music major, your learning will focus on one of the following emphasis areas:

  • Keyboard performance
  • Vocal performance
  • Instrumental performance
  • Keyboard pedagogy
  • Stringed instrument pedagogy
  • Vocal pedagogy
