Radiologist Assistant (RA) Emphasis
The Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences (MSRS) with an emphasis in Radiologist Assistant (RA) is designed to prepare students to work as a Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA). The RA program offers technologists opportunities to complete specialized education as mid-level practitioners, qualifying them to perform procedures and suggest diagnoses as physician extenders caring for patients who receive radiologic services.
The curriculum incorporates RRA certification requirements published by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Students will learn advanced patient care, safety, and procedures through a combination of academic work and clinical experience. Our RA providers aim to improve efficiency and patient care in imaging services by providing advanced-level support to radiologists.
Upon completing the program, students will be eligible to take the national certification exam to be certified and registered as an RA through the AART.
Curriculum
The RA emphasis offers advanced courses in radiologic sciences, including various body systems, interprofessional education, clinical skills, and research. You will complete 62 credit hours of coursework, including clinical preceptorship.
All courses are taught in a hybrid format, which combines face-to-face and online learning. You will be required to attend class on the WSU Ogden campus two times each semester, and attend class twice on Zoom.
Grad Maps provide a semester-by-semester plan for completing all the required classes to earn your degree. Please contact our enrollment director for your Grad Map.
