Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering Admission

Applicants for admission into the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program must possess a bachelor’s degree or be in the final stage of completing the degree.

Required application materials:

  • Completed graduate application
  • Current Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
 

Accelerated 4+1 BS/MS Admission

Students in the WSU Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program may apply to the accelerated BS/MS pathway if they:

  • Have completed at least 90 undergraduate credit hours
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Additional Admission Requirements for International Students

All international students and any applicant educated outside the U.S. must demonstrate proficiency in English. For applicants for whom English is not their first language, a minimum English language proficiency score is required.  (TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) = 75 overall, with a minimum of 17 in each category: OR IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each category). TOEFL or IELTS test must be taken within the past two years.

In addition to language proficiency requirement, international applicants must also submit:

  • GRE Scores (except for applicants with an ABET-accredited engineering bachelor's degree or a prior STEM degree with a GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale)
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Transcripts that have been evaluated by a WSU approved foreign credentials evaluation service. See list of approved agencies.

A translated transcript is not accepted. Transcripts must be evaluated on a course-by-course format, showing U.S. semester credit and grade equivalent for each course based on a 4.0 GPA scale.
