Studying Relational & Organizational Communication at Weber State

A Relational & Organizational Communication emphasis provides you with a foundation that employers seek in effective professional communication in the workplace and in interpersonal settings, such as the family.

Relational & Organizational Communication Highlights

Two different degree tracks are offered under this emphasis. The Interpersonal & Family Communication track is designed to help you understand, explain, and improve complex, dynamic communication in friendship, marriage, family, and other meaningful long- and short-term interpersonal relationships. The Organizing & Leading track teaches you to lead groups and develop the technical writing skills and organizational strategies necessary for management.

Communication is the central enabling feature or framework through which we all function, create, and share meaning, sustain identities, and negotiate our relationships with each other and the rest of the world. You’ll learn skills that lead to versatile careers focused on managing internal and external messaging.

Graduating with a degree in Relational & Organizational Communication gives you a strong foundation in how communication works across cultures and groups, and a thorough understanding of how different communication channels shape our interactions. You’ll be prepared to work in mid- to upper-management jobs in every industry, or for graduate studies in law, social work or communication.
