Studying Early Childhood at Weber State

Are you passionate about working with young children and supporting families? Weber State University’s early childhood program prepares you for work in community programs serving young children, from birth to age 8, and their families. Whether you're guiding children’s learning in pre-K classrooms, supporting families through home visiting and early intervention programs, or working in hospitals as a child life specialist, you'll be equipped to make a real difference.

Early Childhood Highlights

Our student-centered program ensures success. We believe in affordable, flexible online learning plus real-world experience.

Our stackable credentials and apprenticeship programs allow you to earn while you learn. Receive a certificate in your first year and an associate of applied science in your second year, to quickly enhance your earning potential. Tailor your degree qualifications with the Utah Early Childhood Coaching Certificate and Utah Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement.

Through the Building Puentes program, you can also begin your studies in 100% Spanish, then transition into bilingual courses, then English courses as you progress.

Beyond the Classroom

Our blended program model allows you to complete most of your coursework online, giving you the flexibility to learn on your schedule. You’ll also gain valuable hands-on experience through fieldwork, student teaching, and state of the art lab school opportunities at Weber State's Melba S. Lehner Children’s School

"As a first-generation college graduate, my third-grade teacher’s belief in me inspired me to become a teacher. Attending the Utah Early Childhood Conference with my professors and classmates helped me see my leadership path with more heart and clarity, affirming my belief that every child is just one caring adult away from success."

Whitney Wyatt

Class of 2023

“I want to tell aspiring graduates and educators not to give up. I dropped out of college after failed attempts, but now I’ve graduated and became the 2024 College of Education graduation student speaker. I first discovered my passion for early childhood education while teaching ESL in China. After returning to Utah and earning my degree, I launched a 24/7 childcare program from scratch.”
