Glade Sowards is the Senior Energy and Climate Program Manager with the Salt Lake City Sustainability Department and serves as the City's lead staffer to Utah Renewable Communities, a coalition of 19 Utah communities which seeks to provide renewable energy customer choice options for their residents and businesses. Prior to working for Salt Lake City, Mr. Sowards was a Senior Policy Analyst at the Utah Division of Air Quality (UDAQ) and led the State of Utah’s Beehive Emission Reduction Plan initiative, which in 2024 was awarded a competitive grant for nearly $75 million in Climate Pollution Reduction Grant funding. Over nearly 20 years at DAQ, he worked on multiple statewide climate planning efforts and served as lead staffer for Utah’s Western Climate Initiative delegation and as Clean Power Plan coordinator. Prior to working for UDAQ, Mr. Sowards led the Technical Analysis Section at the Utah Office of Energy and Resource Planning. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Environmental Studies from Grinnell College and a Master of Science in Forestry from Michigan Technological University.
