Queering the Archives

In 2021, Weber State University Special Collections embarked on a project to help fill the gaps in the historic record to include stories from the LGBTQ+ community in Weber, Davis, and Morgan Counties. We are seeking participants who are willing to tell their stories and, when possible, share photographs, letters, diaries, and other items to help those in the future understand what it was like to be queer in Northern Utah.

Queer Studies Minor

Weber State University is proud to offer a Queers Studies Minor which will be housed within the Women & Gender Studies Program! Queer Studies (QS) is a minor program and Bachelor of Integrated Studies area of emphasis, which offers interdisciplinary, scholarly perspectives on the formation of sexuality and gender identity.  Instead of conceptualizing these topics as unchangeable and only biologically driven, QS approaches these topics as they relate to the social construction of and their critical intersections with other relations of power such as race, ethnicity, class, nationality, religion and age.

Faculty and students address questions within the context of a transnational world and from different disciplines, such as, but not limited to, history, literature, sociology, communication, psychology, social work, political science and cultural studies.

LGBTQIA+ Support Group

This support group is an opportunity for WSU LGBTQIA students and allies to gather, learn from each other, and share support. Each group will center around pertinent topics of interest to participants, likely including coming out, self-acceptance, family issues, and dating/relationship challenges.

Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Support Group

Transgender and gender non-conforming students encounter unique stressors and experiences. This group provides a safe space to explore these experiences while offering support and belonging to each other.
