Early Childhood Educator I Certificate
Start your journey to making a difference in children’s lives with the Building Puentes program’s Early Childhood Educator I Certificate. Gain essential skills to create high-quality learning environments for children (birth to eight years), and build a foundation for roles like classroom assistant, lead teacher or community service programs. Space in each certificate course is limited to only 20 students, so apply and register early.
This certificate program is 18 credit hours (six courses) and is taught bilingually (English and Spanish). Support services such as ESL courses and tutoring can help prepare you for when courses have more English instruction. The certificate program will be delivered mostly online, with some in-person requirements for field observations and experience.

ECED 2600: Introduction to Early Childhood (3 credits)
Explore the roots of education and learn how to build a community of belonging. This course examines the historical, philosophical, ethical and cultural foundations of early childhood education. This course includes 12 hours of in-person field observation.

ECED 2610: Child Guidance (3 credits)
Learn how to make informed decisions that empower young learners. This course teaches students to make evidence-based, data-informed decisions that support each child. This course includes a minimum of 24 hours of in-person field experience.
