Inspired by the 2026 Caldecott Medal-winning picture book Fireworks, KABOOM!: Art in Motion is an engaging, arts-integrated workshop that explores the vibrant intersections of visual art, dance, and literacy. Offered in both in-person and online formats, this teacher workshop is led by visual art and dance educators. Participants will discover accessible movement strategies inspired by the rich language and rhythmic energy of the text while investigating expressive mark-making techniques rooted in Abstract Expressionism and echoed in the book's illustrations. Through creative movement, close observation, and artistic exploration, educators will experience how integrating the arts can deepen comprehension, nurture self-expression, and spark imagination across content areas. Participants will leave with practical strategies, fresh inspiration, and meaningful ways to connect movement, color, and storytelling in their own classrooms. This event is directed toward K-12 visual art, dance, and general classroom teachers. Registration via Altitude.

How do we make the great classical composers of the past relevant to students in the present? In this teacher workshop celebrating the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's death, we will explore ways to connect history, the strands in the Utah Fine Arts Standards, and literacy. Participants will explore teaching strategies that can be customized for their classrooms. This event is directed toward elementary music and general classroom teachers.
