Weber State to welcome nation’s foremost election expert on Constitution Day
OGDEN, Utah — Weber State University is celebrating Constitution Day with special guest Charlie Cook, founder of The Cook Political Report and one of the nation’s most respected political analysts.
Cook has been widely recognized for his independent and nonpartisan expertise of U.S. elections and politics. Called “the Picasso of election analysis” by Al Hunt of The Wall Street Journal, he has provided trusted insight through his writing, news interviews, and work on The Almanac of American Politics.
“It’s important to note the history we have in common and our shared ideas, especially in a world trying to drive us apart,” said Leah Murray, director of the Walker Institute, on the significance of Constitution Day. “Charlie Cook will focus on the importance of the congressional elections that happen every two years. Elections, whether ‘our team’ wins or loses, are what make us a republic, and celebrating them is an appropriate way to honor our nation’s origin story.”
The event will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 in Lindquist Hall’s Haven J. Barlow Lecture Hall Room 101. It’s free and open to the public.
