Kate Stephens is the Director of the USU Center for Community Engagement (CCE). She oversees the department’s campus-based community engagement programs and has been instrumental in USU’s efforts to acquire and maintain the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification. Before stepping into her current role, she served as the Utah Conservation Corps Program Director for more than a decade and a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador where she worked with indigenous communities bordering the Cayambe Coca Ecological reserve and co-led the first indigenous women’s ascent of Cotopaxi. Kate is the founder and former director of Common Ground Outdoor Adventures, a Cache Valley nonprofit. She has a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology and M.A. in Experiential Education.
