Jörg Rügemer

Associate Professor at University of Utah

Design + Build Salt Lake and the Kunga ADU

Jörg Rügemer has worked internationally for architectural firms such as Frank O. Gehry in Los Angeles, Bothe Richter Teherani in Hamburg, and Anshen+Allen in San Francisco, before he started his own firm, Atelier Jörg Rügemer in 2001. Between 2004 and 2008 he also maintained an architectural firm with partners in Shanghai, where he was in charge of designing large master planned developments and densified housing projects. As a professor of architecture, he taught at several universities in Germany and the U.S., including Florida International University in Miami and the School of Architecture at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he has been professor of sustainable architecture since 2006. His focus on resilient and cost-effective high-performance buildings resulted in the design and construction of Utah’s most Energy-Efficient and Cost-Effective residential building in 2011, which laid the groundwork for his recent explorations of high-performance housing in the affordable market segment.
