GEAR UP is a federally funded program designed to help students succeed in high school and successfully achieve a college graduation. The program is offered free of charge to eligible students at Clearfield, Layton, and Roy High Schools as well as ninth grade students at Central Davis, Mountain, and Sand Ridge Junior High Schools.

GEAR UP can:

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to help students plan and prepare for college
  • Enable access to academic coaching to support students' success
  • Support students and families in discovering options for post-secondary education
  • Help navigate college application and enrollment processes
  • Assist students and families to identify and obtain financial aid

State GEAR UP News

The Education Access & Outreach GEAR UP (EAO/GU) Tuition Waiver is offered to outstanding entering undergraduate students planning to attend Weber State University for the 2015-2016 academic year. Please apply by the deadline April 10, 2015 and return to your GEAR UP Advisor. You may contact Emily Romo-Hendrix at for more information.

Utah State University College Visit

If you are interested in your student attending the Utah State University college visit on April 15, 2015, please print out this permission slip and turn it in to your State GEAR UP advisor as soon as possible! For more details, see the itinerary. Parents are welcome to join their students on the trip!
