Professor Smith is an assistant professor in the School of Accountancy of the Goddard School of Business at Weber State University. His research interests include topics in state and local taxation, taxation of individuals, and employee benefits. His publications appear in such journals as The CPA Journal, and The Journal of Accounting, Ethics, and Public Policy. He teaches Taxation of Individuals in the undergraduate accounting program and State & Local Taxation, Tax-Exempt Entities, International Taxation, Retirement Planning & Employee Benefits, and Tax Research in the Master of Taxation program.
Professor Smith graduated with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center with an LL.M. in Taxation. Prior to attending Georgetown, he graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he was a member of the Kentucky Law Journal. He received his B.A. in accounting from Weber State University, cum laude. Prior to joining the Weber State University faculty in 2009, Professor Smith clerked for Judge Glenn Acree of the Kentucky Court of Appeals.
