French Study Abroad

The Department of Foreign Languages at Weber State University is committed to offering students a diverse learning experience. As part of that commitment, Study Abroad programs are regularly scheduled each year. Please select a program for more information. Paris and La Rochelle, France
June 28-July 21, 2012

$3100 plus airfare (approximate cost)

Visit Paris for four days and then travel to beautiful La Rochelle, France for three weeks to study French language and culture. Students will meet Dr. Cheryl Hansen in Paris on July 28 to spend 4 days visiting several museums and tourist sites. Then we will travel by train to La Rochelle where students will stay with host families while attending classes at the University of La Rochelle.

Proposed itinerary:

We will have two pre-departure meetings on campus in May (dates to be announced).

We will meet in Paris France June 28, 2012, where we will visit famous tourist spots like the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Sacré Cœur, Notre Dame, Latin Quarter and many more. We will also visit museums and take a boat ride on the Seine. Small cafés, restaurants, bakeries, outside markets and chic department stores will be an integral part of our visit, and there are hundreds of parks where we can walk, have a picnic or just sit and watch the people pass by. Hotel, breakfast, excursions and ground transportation are included in the price.

We will leave for La Rochelle on Sunday, July 2 and arrive that evening where our host families will be waiting. Classes will be held every day from July 3-21. There are planned cultural excursions with the university during the week and on weekends. La Rochelle is located on the Atlantic coast with miles of beautiful beaches, so hanging out at the beach is another fun thing to do. Roundtrip train fare from Paris to La Rochelle, your home stay with a French family with breakfast and dinner and university tuition are also included in the price.

We will leave La Rochelle on July 21 to return to Paris. From there you may return to the United States or continue your stay in France or travel around Europe!
