This honor is given annually to a current faculty or staff member who has shown sustained and outstanding commitment to mentoring students through community engagement.

The award is named after John A. Lindquist, a longtime supporter of WSU whose devotion to education and community service left a lasting legacy in Ogden. Nineteen Wildcats have been named honorees since this award series was launched in 2007.

Russell-Stamp teaches courses in educational psychology, child development, and psychopathology. Her areas of research interest include enhancing student engagement, community-based learning, and building resiliency in youth.

“The most rewarding part of my career has been watching students’ abstract theories come to life as they work and learn from members of the community,” Russell-Stamp said.

Over the past 17 years, she has built partnerships with schools and after school programs in Weber and Ogden school districts, as well as an elementary school in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.

More than 300 WSU students have been actively involved in these partnerships through tutoring, mentoring, teaching resiliency skills, and organizing field trips to the university and local technical colleges.

Russell-Stamp was honored during CCEL’s Community Engagement Celebration on April 9, an annual event to recognize students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners who contribute to community learning and engagement throughout the year.
