The Lindquist Family Symphony Pops Concert and Fireworks show returns

OGDEN, Utah — The skies above Weber State University will light up once again at the annual Lindquist Family Symphony Pops Concert and Fireworks show, July 12 from 9–11 p.m. at the Ada Lindquist Plaza.

John A. and Telitha E. Lindquist first established this beloved Ogden event in 1978. Today, John E. Lindquist, president of Lindquist Mortuaries and Cemeteries in Ogden, keeps the family tradition alive for the 47th year. A crowd of people sit on the grass on campus, watching fireworks in the night sky.

“The excitement for this event has been building all season, and I’ve heard from so many people how much this tradition means to our community,” said Interim President Leslie Durham. “Thanks to the generosity and vision of the Lindquist family, this has become one of those special summer evenings that brings us together in good company, in a beautiful setting, and with a spectacular show we can all enjoy.”

An hour-long concert begins at 9 p.m. Community members will experience the New American Philharmonic’s majestic rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” while the booms of 16 cannons, set off by the Cannoneers of the Wasatch, ring out.

Around 10 p.m., the night will conclude with patriotic tunes and a community favorite: one of Utah’s largest fireworks displays. Food trucks and other vendors will also be on site.

The roundabouts on Harrison Boulevard and Dixon Drive will be closed to traffic, but vehicles can access campus from Skyline Drive and Taylor Avenue. Interior campus roads and parking lots will be closed Saturday, July 11 by 9 a.m., including lots A1 and A10. Portions of lots W8, A9, and the public pay lot will also be blocked.

Guests may not leave blankets, chairs, or save spaces before 6 p.m. on July 11. Items placed on the lawn before that time will be removed.

Tarps, stakes, and tent pegs are also not allowed for safety reasons. Personal fireworks and pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals. Spectators are asked to clean up their area and drive with courtesy and caution after the show.
