This program will prove that statistics can be fun and engaging. In this course, we will visit the famous spots in Paris such as the Eiffel tower, Louvre museum, Arc de Tromphe, Cathedrale de Notre Dame, Pantheon, Château de Versailles, and spend a day in Disneyland. We take a high-speed train to the city-state of Monaco famous for its lavish sports cars, glamorous casinos, spectacular events and amazing scenery.
Throughout our class, we will collect our own data and use it to study statistical concepts. We will find out the how big and heavy is a typical French macaron, how many raisins are in a typical 'pains aux raisins', and how coffee and pastry prices depend on the proximity to Eiffel Tower, and what is the typical car on the streets of Monaco. We will study probability theory and observe how casinos use it to make sure they win and you lose. You will have fun exploring, learning and making new friends!
