Wildcats Win 2022 National Sales Challenge

NEW YORK CITY – Students from the Professional Sales Student Association (PSSA) did an outstanding job by winning the 2022 National Sales Challenge hosted by William Patterson University. NSC, one of the oldest national sales competitions in the country hosts teams and participants from some of the best sales departments in academia.

Kade Johnson, a senior Professional Sales major from Ogden and Payton Sevy, a sophomore Professional Sales major from Ogden, both represented Weber State on their cross-country competition at William Patterson. Johnson and Sevy competed in both the individual speed-selling event, as well as the case study role-playing event cumulating a point total for their team.

Johnson placed third overall in the speed-selling challenge, while Sevy placed fourth in the speed-selling challenge, as well as fourth place in the overall challenge. Both of these merits helped lock in Weber State University as the number one team overall at the competition.

“This was one of the most exciting sales competitions I’ve been to. I thought it was a well organized event in an extremely cool city” said Johnson. “I enjoyed getting to know the other students I was competing against and enjoyed the competitiveness of the elite students there.”

This is the third competition for Johnson as a member of the PSSA. Earlier this semester, he anchored the Weber State squad competing at the National Team Selling Competition hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington.

“The National Sales Challenge was great,” said Sevy, “We learned a lot and were able to compete at a high level as a team.”

The National Sales Challenge at William Patterson University is a traditional competition for the PSSA, as they have consistently placed and been one of the top-rated schools, year in and year out at the event.

“Winning the NSC just goes to show all of the hard work and determination our students have when they go out and compete,” said Brock Adams, Assistant Professor, and advisor to the PSSA. “I couldn’t be more proud of these students for getting out of their comfort zone, flying across the country and competing at the national level.”

The National Sales Challenge was fourth event on the sales competition cycle for the 2022-23 school year. The PSSA are competing in 7 additional regional, national, and international sales competitions this year.

The Professional Sales Student Association is an open organization in the department of Professional Sales, welcoming students from any major to compete in sales competitions. Members of the PSSA have the opportunity to broaden their sales network and experience outside of the classroom by being involved.
