Weber State University Piano Program

Browning Center

Weber State University is well-known for its emphasis on excellence in teaching, small class sizes, and friendly interaction among faculty and students.

Weber State University's Department of Performing Arts is large enough to provide the atmosphere and motivation you need to excel, and personal enough to enable you to stand out as an individual.  The Department of Performing Arts is housed in the beautiful Browning Center for the Performing Arts, a state-of-the-art facility, with brand new 7-foot Steinway piano practice rooms.

Piano students at WSU excel in performance, and have been chosen as top prizewinners of many state regional national, as well as international piano competitions, such as the International Beethoven Piano Competition, UMTA State Concerto Competition, & MTNA Steinway Young Artist Piano Competition.  Piano students who continued on to graduate schools from WSU have been awarded full teaching assistantships from renowned piano performance and pedagogy programs throughout the country.

The Piano Program at WSU has also built its reputation both nationally and within Utah in the area of preparing outstanding piano teachers.  The WSU student chapter of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), also known as the "Treble Makers", holds the national record of being awarded the most number of MTNA National Student Chapter of the Year.  Students who graduated from the WSU's Piano Pedagogy Program have also received the highest number of Student Teacher of the Year awards of Utah Music Teachers Association.
