PROCESS OF ADMISSION

Six-Step Admission Process

  • 1. Application Submission

Applicants to the WSU PA program must meet all of the program prerequisites as outlined on our Admission Page and submit a formal application with all supporting documentation to the Central Application Service for the Physician Assistant (CASPA).

The CASPA application cycle is open for applicants in April. Applications for WSU PA program must be submitted on or before September 1st at 11:59 pm (EST).

Applications must be fully verified through CASPA by September 1st at 11:59 pm (EST). Once applications are verified by CASPA, the application will qualify for screening and review by the admissions committee. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early.

  • 2. Screening & Review

Once applications are verified by CASPA, the admissions coordinator will screen applicants to confirm they qualify by meeting minimum eligibility requirements.

Qualified applicants will move on to be scored by members of the Admissions Committee in the following areas:

    • Academic strength: based on overall GPA, science GPA, and PA-Cat Scores
    • Clinical healthcare experience
    • Personal statement
    • Professional references (3)
    • Competitive Candidate Criteria*

Those who do not meet minimum requirements will receive an email informing them that their application has been denied.

*See Admission Requirements on our website for more information regarding Competitive Candidate Criteria and Scoring

  • 3. Interviews

The most competitive candidates will be invited for an interview. Interview dates typically begin in September.

Our objective in the interview process is to evaluate applicants in the following areas:

    • Mission fit
    • Professionalism, self-awareness
    • Learning style, work ethic, and emotional maturity
    • Academic readiness
    • Professional readiness
    • Interpersonal skills

Interviews can be exciting and terrifying! We want to see your authentic self, try to relax, and show us who you really are.

  • 4. Applicant Review

Following interviews, the Admissions Committee will review recommendations regarding each applicant and determine whether candidates are offered a seat, placed on the alternate list, or denied admission.

There are many highly qualified applicants, and admission to the WSU PA program is very competitive. Achievement of prerequisites and admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance to the program.

  • 5. Admission Offers

Upon completion of the interview process, candidates will be notified in writing and/or by phone of their acceptance status no later than November 1st.

The Weber State University PA Program uses a fixed admissions process (rather than a rolling admissions process). Final enrollment decisions are not made until all interviews are completed.

Should a seat become available before the new-student orientation in January, the Admissions Committee will review candidates on the alternate list and select the most competitive candidate. These students will be notified as soon as possible.

  • 6. Admission Acceptance

Candidates offered admission to the program must complete an Intent to Enroll Form and pay a $1,000 non-refundable seat deposit within two weeks of notification. Candidates who matriculate will have their deposit applied toward the cost of first-semester tuition. Candidates who return their Intent to Enroll Form and pay the seat deposit but do not enroll and attend, will forfeit the funds.
