How to Apply

Applicants for admission to the Master of Science in Computer Science program must possess a bachelor’s degree or be in the final stage of completing the degree.

Applicants must complete their bachelor’s degree prior to enrollment in the MSCE program. (Note: students may apply for the MSCE program and take up to two master’s level courses prior to completing their bachelor’s degree.)

Applications must be completed online - please follow the instructions on the application page. You may save the application and login later to edit it before final submission. Each application must be accompanied by a $60 (U.S.) application fee. This may be paid with a credit card using the online application form.

Degrees Other than Computer Science

As determined on a case-by-case basis, students with non-computer science degrees may be required to take leveling courses in technology-related areas that will adequately prepare them for the Master of Science core courses.

The minimum leveling courses for non-computer science degrees are the following:

• CS 2420 - Data Structures and Algorithms Credits: (4)
• CS 2810 - Computer Architecture Credits: (4)
• CS 3100 - Operating Systems: (4)
• MATH 3410 - Probability and Statistics Credits: (3)
• MATH 1210 - Calculus I: (4)

 

International Applicants

International applicants must have a minimum internet-based TOEFL score of 79 (with a minimum of 17 in each category) or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each category).

The application fee is $95 for international / non-U.S. resident applicants.

An overall GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale is required from the undergraduate program in which the bachelor’s degree is earned.

Candidates with a GPA of less than a 3.25 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

GRE scores will be used to make admission decisions but no specific minimum score is required. For information about taking the GRE, go to https://www.ets.org/gre

Individuals who have already completed a graduate-level program and are well into established careers in a related field may be admitted without the GRE requirement, based on admission committee approval.

You are responsible for submitting a complete application.

The final online application process prompts you to submit your completed application. Your application will not be considered complete until you have submitted a complete online application and all necessary items have been received by the MSCS program.

Application Fee

Each MSCS application must be accompanied by a $60 (U.S.) application fee ($95 for international applicants). Credit card is the preferred form of payment, but other forms are welcome. Additional instructions are in the online application.

Transcripts

Official transcripts of your academic record from all previous colleges or universities attended should be submitted. Sending your transcript electronic secure is the preferred method. If your college or university provides this option, request your transcripts to be sent directly to mscs@weber.edu.

If the college or university does not provide this option, request the official transcripts be sent directly to you, then forward them UNOPENED in their original sealed envelope to the admissions office address.
