Terms of Use

Metaphor reserves the right to use submissions made to the journal. Fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, art, and other submissions may be used by Metaphor only if they are accepted for the published edition. Accepted submissions may be used for marketing and promotion purposes at any time. Published pieces may be used by Metaphor during the time it is published and for subsequent years, or as long as the journal sees fit.

By accepting publication in Metaphor, authors, artists, and creators grant Metaphor the non-exclusive, indefinite right to use, display, distribute, and excerpt the work. Once published, submissions may be used by Metaphor, in part or in whole, across all media formats. Published pieces may be used solely for purposes of initial one-time publication, marketing, promotion, and archival journal display. Whenever possible, Metaphor will credit the author or artist when using their work for any of the above purposes.

This policy does not transfer ownership and does not permit the sale of the work or the creation of derivative works without the creator’s consent. Any author or artist who prefers their work not to be used for these purposes may contact Metaphor with a request for declination. In such cases, Metaphor will try to accommodate but cannot guarantee suspension of this policy.
