Spanish Translation Highlights

Spanish is the second-most-spoken language in the world, and translation is a nearly $40 billion industry, which the U.S. Department of Labor projects as one of the fastest-growing sectors.

Spanish translation majors learn skills to work directly with native speakers through courses focused on cultural heritage, business and language in a variety of professions.

Beyond the Classroom

As a Spanish translation major, you’ll complete an internship where you’ll gain experience using the skills you learn in class and working with different populations.

What You’ll LEARN at Weber

You’ll learn to translate many types of documents from Spanish to English and English to Spanish, and become an expert in translation software.

In addition, you’ll gain skills in verbal interpretation and can take classes on localization (adapting foreign products or services for local markets).

What You CAN DO After Weber

Available to students from the Spanish program, Spanish translation also welcomes students from other programs in the fields of business, criminal justice, Latin American studies and public health, among others.
