Studying Finance at Weber State

Weber State’s finance major prepares you for a career in the finance industry by providing a solid foundation in capital, investment and portfolio management, as well as an understanding of financial institutions and personal finance.

Finance Highlights

Weber State’s diverse finance faculty is made up of professors with multiple research and publication references, as well as career investment and banking experts. With this variety of research and field professionals, the program offers students an excellent balance of theory and practical, real-world application for their finance degrees.

Weber’s John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics is accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This distinction is held by fewer than 6% of all business schools.

Beyond the Classroom

Whether you go on a trip through Weber State’s Study Abroad program, join the Wildcat Investors and other student clubs, or conduct comprehensive research with direct faculty instruction, you'll find hands-on and engaging activities outside the classroom.

“The Goddard School of Business prepares students for the real world. In the finance program, we try to learn from history, but our professors are really teaching us how to work with the market today.”

Faculty Perspective

One of the best things about learning finance is that the principles of finance apply so widely. Not everyone will manage the finances of a large corporation, but nearly everyone will have to get a loan, save for retirement and manage a household budget.

Jim Turner

I believe everyone needs to know the basics of investments. No one guarantees your retirement savings, and you are responsible to grow your own personal net worth.
