English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in Utah
Weber State University offers 11-week English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses for those hoping to improve their English skills. Our ESOL program is known for its well-qualified instructors, high completion rates, and low tuition ($115).
Students who register will complete a placement test to assess their English proficiency across the four language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Based on your results, you will be placed in one of five levels ranging from Level 1 (Beginner/Novice) to Level 5 (Intermediate High). All courses are offered as noncredit university courses. Students must successfully complete a course to advance to the next level.
ESOL vs ESL
Formerly known as English as a Second Language (ESL), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is a broader term that recognizes English may be someone’s third, fourth, or fifth language.
