WHY WEBER STATE
I chose Weber State for a number of reasons. The small class sizes created a more personal and engaging environment, which I really liked. The study abroad program was a major draw that I was fortunate enough to participate in. The location also was an ideal balance, that was far enough from home that I could move out on my own, but close enough that visiting on weekends was always an option. Finally, Weber State's tuition was highly competitive compared to other schools.
WHY MARKETING
Business had always been a natural interest of mine, so pursuing a degree in that field felt like an easy decision. When it came to choosing a specific path, I landed on marketing largely on the encouragement of my parents, who felt it would be a strong fit for me. Looking back, it turned out to be a great decision!
COMMUNITY
The most impactful aspect of my time at Weber State has been the community that the business school has built. The faculty and staff are remarkably supportive, and the professors in particular go beyond simply teaching course material. They take a genuine interest in the success and well-being of their students, both inside the classroom and outside. My experience in the study abroad program has also left a lasting impression on me, and I'm extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.
PROFESSOR IMPACT
I had amazing professors during my time at Weber. Most of all, Lisa Hopkins, Sky King, and Clinton Amos have impacted my life in more ways than one. Lisa Hopkins was one of the first professors I connected with during my freshman year, and she took me under her wing early on, helping me develop a genuine appreciation for accounting. Sky King brings an energy and enthusiasm to the classroom that is truly unmatched, making every lecture an engaging experience. Clinton Amos, perhaps most notably, is one of the most caring and intentional people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE STUDENTS
My biggest piece of advice to any student would be to get involved as much as possible. Networking with both the faculty and your fellow students is one of the most valuable things you can do to make your experience truly meaningful. Beyond that, simply showing up and actively participating in class goes an incredibly long way. In many ways, that alone is 99% of the work.
WHAT'S NEXT
Looking ahead, I plan to continue growing with the company I have been a part of since high school, transitioning into a full-time role as I move forward in my career. I am also looking forward to taking some time to travel, with plans to spend a few months backpacking across Europe before fully diving into the next chapter of my life.
GRATITUDE
My family has been my greatest support system throughout this journey, and are my biggest cheerleaders. They are, without question, my favorite people, and I would not be the person I am today without their love and encouragement. Thank you to my mom, dad, and brother for everything they have done for me.
