About

Lisa Hopkins joined the faculty of Weber State University in 2013 and is an Instructor in the School of Accounting & Taxation at the Goddard School of Business & Economics.

Hopkins holds a master’s degree in accounting from Weber State and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Utah. She teaches introductory and intermediate financial accounting courses in the Goddard School’s undergraduate program. Since 1990, her accounting career has involved working for a public company, privately owned corporations, a public accounting firm and as a
consultant.

Hopkins has found her passion at Weber State teaching in the School of Accounting & Taxation. She loves what she does and enjoys making a difference in the lives of her students. Not many people can go to work every day and say they love what they do. Hopkins is one of those fortunate people.

Actively consulted with non-profit organization, performed financial review and prepared quarterly financial reports, coordinated and finalized year-end, developed annual operating budget with Executive Director, coordinated financial audit, reviewed and approved Form 990. Accomplishments included: developed income projections due to COVID-19 impact, applied for and received PPP and Ogden CARES grant funding, established financial policies and procedures. Contributed 1,290 pro bono volunteer service hours.

Consulted with clients periodically throughout the year on financial accounting and reporting issues. Client-based contract work included: implementation of new accounting software for staffing corporation, research of tax regulations and audit of calculations used in business tax return preparation software, redevelopment of Finance Committee package for large privately held medical corporation and performance of pro bono annual financial reviews for elementary and high school PTAs.
