WHY WEBER STATE
I chose Weber State because it was less financially straining and because it offered small class sizes. Both my parents went here as well, so I thought it would be nice to experience college like them.
WHY FINANCE
I chose finance because I thought it would be a fun degree to pursue and would provide me with good career options. In whatever career I ended up pursuing, I knew that taking this major would help me become financially competent. In another life, I might’ve chosen economics as my major, but my experience in this field has been a blessing.
FEELS LIKE HOME
I really enjoy how this university feels like home. The people here are very nice, and everything is a lot smaller in scale. I felt comfortable wherever I went, from the library to the gym, even the testing center, on certain occasions.
PROFESSOR IMPACT
All the professors in the finance department are absolutely wonderful. I took more than one class with both Dr. Fan and Dr. Turner, and I would’ve loved to have taken more. They made coming to class every day a joy and helped me learn to love finance.
I also want to give special thanks to Dr. Thue, who made Business Law such a blast. It was certainly the most interesting class I’ve taken so far, and he gave me the confidence to pursue my passions.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE STUDENTS
If I could give advice to someone starting college, I would say to make good friends. Going to class or studying for hours with friends makes it so much more enjoyable, and sometimes it’s just nice having people supporting you and people to support. I couldn’t give enough gratitude to the people who stood with me through this journey.
WHAT'S NEXT
Hopefully law! Not getting in trouble with the law, I should clarify, but instead I plan on eventually going to Law school and becoming a lawyer someday.
GRATITUDE
I want to give special thanks to the nerds in my D&D group, the teriyaki chicken bowls I ate every day at school, my family, and especially my little sister, whom I love and appreciate very much.
