You’re in! New wave of high school seniors receives direct admittance, scholarships to WSU

OGDEN, Utah — One year after its rollout, an initiative that automatically admits high school seniors and provides upfront scholarships continues to make the path to college clearer and more affordable.

Weber State students return to campus for the fall 2025 semesterDirect Admissions, first introduced last October, gives every high school senior in Weber, Davis, and Morgan counties a college acceptance letter paired with applicable financial aid and scholarship information.

Students are admitted to Weber State, Davis Technical College, and Ogden-Weber Technical College. After that, all that’s left is filling out a confirmation of interest form to learn how to get started at each school.

Last week, nearly 10,000 high school seniors received their acceptance letters via email. Of those, more than 4,100 were also offered scholarships based on their academic records, giving them the opportunity to enroll at WSU with a scholarship already in-hand.

“Before coming to college, one thing students are most concerned about is finances,” said Jessica Oyler, vice president of Student Access & Success. “Having scholarship and aid information right out of the gate means students can see that getting started is possible.”

New this year, scholarship offers include the percentage of tuition and fees each award covers, giving students a clearer picture of their costs and the value of their scholarship.

The direct admissions initiative saves time by removing the need for application fees and forms, which can be a barrier for students. This means students have fewer steps to navigate before getting started.

Close collaborations like this make it easier for students to learn about their local education options. The goal is to not only make it easier to start college, but also continue. Through the TechTransfer program, students who’ve completed a certificate at a technical school can earn credit toward their associate or bachelor’s degree at WSU.

“Removing hurdles can clear the way for people who may’ve thought college was just out of reach,” Oyler said. “It sends a powerful message to students who may not have pictured themselves in college that they belong here, and that Weber State is excited to help them take the next step.”
