Weber State University honors graduates at 159th commencement ceremony

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University will honor 2,332 graduates at the fall 2022 commencement ceremonies on Dec. 16.

The ceremonies will recognize graduates from this year’s summer and fall semesters. The most popular majors are nursing, computer science, professional sales, criminal justice and diagnostic medical sonography.

“My time at Weber State was valuable for me to further my education and to meet new people, but I’m excited to graduate and start my next journey,” said Madilyn Gomm, a criminal justice major. “It was always clear to me that professors at WSU cared and rooted for my personal success, and I wasn’t just a mark in their gradebook.”

To honor their achievement, all graduates who attend commencement will receive medallions with the presidential seal.

“I’m always so inspired when I see students reaching out their hand to receive that diploma,” said WSU president Brad Mortensen. “For our graduates, it’s years of hard work and transformation culminating in that moment.”

Each college will hold individual ceremonies throughout the day, primarily at the Val A. Browning Center and the Dee Events Center.

Tickets are not required and parking is free, but seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Graduates who need special accommodations should contact Disability Services at 801-626-6413.

“I want to offer my sincere congratulations to each and every Wildcat graduating this December,” Mortensen said. “As you go into the world, the workforce, or wherever your passion takes you, remember your Weber State family is cheering for your success.”
