WSU to participate in Ogden’s 20th Harvest Moon Celebration
OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University will participate in the 2021 Harvest Moon Celebration, an event that usually attracts thousands of people to downtown Ogden, Sept. 18 from noon-8 p.m. This year marks the celebration’s 20th anniversary.
“Weber State University remains committed to creating vibrant community relationships as an educational, cultural and economic leader,” said Weber State University President Brad Mortensen. “The Harvest Moon Celebration gives Weber State the opportunity to further demonstrate that commitment.”
Ogden Downtown Alliance organizes the annual event, and Haille Van Patten, the market and public relations manager, labels this year as “a grand reopening” of downtown. The theme, “Come Together,” is a play on The Beatles’ hit song by the same name, and a Beatles tribute band, “Imagine: Remembering the Fab Four,” will headline the main stage. Other performers will appear throughout the evening.
During the celebration, various WSU groups will have booths with activities and prizes, including Science in the Parks, Botany and Plant Ecology, the College of Engineering, Applied Science & Technology and the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.
“Community-favorite events such as the Harvest Moon Celebration are important for the community to come together, support local and enjoy time with family and friends,” said Van Patten, who is also a Weber State communication graduate. “Many of Weber State’s students, faculty, staff, leadership and alumni reside in Ogden, so it’s a wonderful opportunity for the university to encourage pride in place.”
Weber State is a community partner with the Downtown Ogden Alliance, which hosts community events throughout the year.
